“Inside every person there are seeds of greatness. The responsibility of parents, teachers, and leaders is to nurture and cultivate those seeds”.
~Zig Ziglar, from “Something to Smile About”

I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from Spelman College. I am also certified to teach Reading and Gifted learners. I have 18 years of experience being a classroom teacher.
My teaching career which has been geared toward increasing learner achievement and empowering children has been deeply enriched by first recognizing that there is always room to grow and secondly having a deeply rooted desire to ensure that I am effectively reaching all learners on all ability levels. I have a strong passion to educate children/adults and help them blossom into well-rounded, responsible, and independent life-long learners. In my 18 years of teaching, I have been privileged to work with a diverse group of learners which has rendered me the opportunity to utilize my expertise in the area of differentiation to reach all learners. Working with such a diverse group of learners has afforded me the opportunity to become skilled in curriculum mapping and designing creative lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
My greatest strengths include motivating and inspiring learners. This leads me to collaborate regularly with parents, fellow teachers, and administrators to plan for learner learning needs. I work with learners to ensure that they are actively engaged by incorporating a variety of manipulatives, technology, and other enriching activities. Creating an environment in which learners are actively engaged, helps me to meet their diverse needs, and demonstrate direct connections between the classroom/learning environment and everyday life. In addition, I communicate with parents on a regular basis to promote a healthy home/school/learning environment connection. My desire to effectively reach all learners and my passion to educate, are qualities that I strongly believe will not only be effective in addressing the disparity but also in preparing me to assist other educators with differentiation in the regular education/virtual classroom to meet the needs of all learners!
I recognize that there are seeds of greatness that lay within the learners that I serve. It is my sincerest aspiration to have my seeds nurtured and cultivated just as I nurture and cultivate the seeds in others. I truly believe that my hard work, dedication, and willingness to seek professional growth opportunities make me qualified to serve learners no matter their age or location.
